The owner of the house is Mr. Kishaba Eiensee, a father of Yaeyama's history and culture. In addition to being a famous local historian, he is also the producer of "AsatoyaYunta," one of the most famous folk songs in Okinawa. The house has a unique layout: at the time of construction, it was compact with the entrance facing north (now it faces west). Please also take a look at the railings made of wood eaten by the bark beetle.

Description
Built in 1923. The building was donated in 2007, then relocated to Ishigaki Yaima Mura and restored in 2008. As of 2021, the building is 98 years old. This building was the residence of Eijun Kishaba, a man who made great achievements as the father of Yaeyama's history and culture. Kishaba is the person who discovered "Asadoya Yunta", one of the most popular Okinawan folk songs, and spread it throughout the country. He is also an honorary citizen of Ishigaki City. The Kishaba residence has a peculiar floor plan. The entrance was north-facing at the time of its construction (it now faces west), there is a "Tokonoma" (decorative alcove) of 13.26 square meters in the center, a Buddhist altar room of 9.95 square meters on the eastside, a kitchen of 13.22 square meters, and also a storehouse. The building materials used are woods known as ”Kyangi” (Inumaki/Buddhist pine) and "Fukun" (fukugi tree) in Yaeyama dialect.
